Naxvegas

A social gathering of people mostly from Nairobi armed with maasai shukaz & jumper cables when the car batteries they drove in were dying left to right from loud music. If this doesn't spell out clearly that this wasn't an event to miss not forgetting the rugby pumped action and most in attendance were high functioning alcoholics. Which brings me to the main purpose to this post. Note the fact that I went to Nakuru after a long night out at Oletepe's commemorating a ma niggah's birthday, then woke up on the road to Naxvegas with a drink in hand, shuka on my shoulder and the readiness of a city council cleaner to striking at Kidero. back to the main point-
Some of the clear traits & obvious traits to pick out a High Functioning alcoholic would be-all
1. No liquor, of any kind type or class is beyond them. They don't have a preference & anything goes. In Nakuru,there was an entrance fee to some of the clubs ( so I am told - I will explain later why I don't know,or i have explained earlier ..beats me ) once you paid you got a complimentary kibao. Wasn't that marketing or what....huh. so for a high functioning alcoholic who most likely was drinking from the time they left Nairobi in the AM .... this would be a bargain to simmer on through out the night. Most important to note, brand doesn't matter.

2. They never turn down an opportunity to drink, Christmas to them is whenever & where ever to 2 or 3 are gathered in the intention to drink. Christmas to them would be an open bar or tab.( you get my drift right...Christmas is any good drinking day).
3. The highly tolerant ones never forget details of a night & ready to drive at their peril, most of them were the drivers to & from Naxvegas. Same table, you might go toe toe with them bottle after bottle but trust you me they will always be the ones to recap a night or fill in the blanks on your memory lapse.
4. Their idea of binge drinking would be from 11am all through the day.
5. Frankly anyone with the knowledge on ' Solar Garden' has to be a high functioning alcoholics. This place runs for 24hrs or something. When you are out of Qz, while guys are sun chasing to get home just before the sun rises 'fully' (must insist on the word), they are heading to drink some more.
6. The would be at event, 50 shillings aware& away from abject poverty but surprisingly they get higher than everyone else.
7. When in a new unfamiliar territory they will always know where to find liquor, past mututho curfew. Very resourceful when they set their minds to it. I think they would be very good employees if there only a little incentive.(Low priced alcohol or better yet open bar once in a while).
8. They always know the best meat joints, for some reason. Not sure if they cheat by having apps but no, cant be since they are loyal buyers of Nokia & Samsung - not the S3's & Lumnia but mulika Muizi,solely for the  number of days they store charge & can illuminate dark places & their alcohol. ( NB. They don't strictly own such phone but might have them as a spare, 2/3 guaranteed.

9. A drinker is a drinker & it leads to a lose tongue. Often though, if you find a high functioning alcoholic they are brutally honest. All drunkard say the truth. They are the sort of guys who ask for someone to be their girlfriend, one knee & all. This day & age you realise very few ever ask. People sort of just ease into relationships.
10.The last & final trait,  they also don't believe they deserve alcohol at the end of a week, or day ....but it does deserve them, because they do it so well.
Disclaimer, I have been a bit sexist in the post, but trying to give a shine to the lovely ladies of our town in the best light possible. ( whispering ) because am still single.
