Listening to Young Jeezy’s song ‘ Ballin’, chorus goes………”you think you balling coz you gat a block”… Am so into writing the blog that all I can hear is … “you think you ballin coz you gat a blog”. That’s a good sign because proves that am committed but just not balling unfortunately. If I get there all be like the ‘touch me not’ plant, it closes up when you touch it seriously. Found in Kenya at the Mamba village. Peaks of being a local tourist once in a while. The past week has really been uplifted by Indian themed season and a standup comedy 'outsourced'. Gupta by far my favorite character and he resemble , come to think of it he reminds me kung fu panda Po.
They have really got me thinking how I don’t have an Indian friend. So many questions in my mind and no one to ask. Its also one of those things you get to want answers from an actual person rather than just Google search.Example there is no language such as Indian or Chinese. Its even prompting me to sit next to mum and watch soaps like ‘A love Story’. Right now some of you may be judging a brother but I can’t just be ignorant to something that interests some other person to a point they even have control over the traffic.
Anyway I gathered from the two funny ass comic programs that India has really cultured people.
It’s such a big deal to me that I start thinking how I have been isolated and I have continued isolating myself from the shaggz. Now am a Nairobian and we have our culture that goes unnoticed.
We probably don’t notice this but customer care and services sucks in this town in most institutions. How much would it cost a phone Xpress person to just smile and be polite really!! We take it so calmly and normal but that should be the case people not at all. Maybe they cater to white people much more politely but that would be some really pre colonial actions. All knowing and as we are, some of us are really living some hard core lives and some of the basic and mandatory services that we should be provided by the government is a wish in the wishing well.
Have you ever gone to a friends place and ask if there running water and if it’s okay to flash the toilet. Or you get an amazed look on your face when someone say’s they are going to take a hot shower. Water dropping down from a shower head would water dropping from the heavens and what not. Or having an actual bath from a bath tab. (face in shock its like am describing houses on Mtv cribs).I have just described myself right there, thing is for the past 10 years or so, our place has had water rationing. 10years seriously. There was a time we didn’t even see water coming out of the taps.
Water is a natural resource that should be abundant and for most part of it free. I mean charges maybe should be for transporting it to individual homes. If the government is having challenge regulating or making a natural resource available to the people, what other things would they fall short at providing?
Having to worry about basic necessities would make a working person or any one on that matter less productive. We would then start questioning our selves why the shilling has hit a record low.
This is me going on record, we do bath but utilizing the skills harnessed from the visits to shaggz where we got to bath with a bucket which later got enhanced when you went to the kind of boarding schools I went to, someone gets clean in the end. Maybe it’s me trying to console myself but it’s a water conservation mechanism too so in retrospect we are looking out for the environment.
When we get to go the sauna which would also translate a shower shower (have to say it twice for emphasis that it’s not an ordinary practice to me) later when we decide to be local tourists because that’s not an everyday occurrence, then we get to fully appreciate when we have the opportunity.
The only time New Zealand had water problem is after an earthquake, a freaking earthquake.
We have never had a natural disaster at my place thank God so I don’t see a reason because there are some freshly laid pipes that pass out water once a week and it’s in the freaking night. So people are stocked up with karai’s and jerry cans. Especially now that it’s ‘Show’ week, people will be going shopping hehehe. What New Zealander rugby national players did is, if you are had running water at your place then you didn’t get to shave your beard.
I think we should embrace the togetherness but it shouldn’t necessarily be sparked by a tragedy rather just make it fun.Respect to the later Wangari Mathai, this is my hamming bird contribution to a better Kenya tomorrow.
Kung fu panda 2 referencing, I have found inner peace and all do the karai thing but I would rather that be my choice and get running water flowing through the taps.
Scodosh!!!!!…………..bloggers.
